Named one of the ASC’s Rising Stars in Cinematography, Julia Swain is storyteller first and foremost known for her “dynamic balancing of beauty and darkness.” She recently wrapped on Abraham’s Boys, a feature film adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story about the Van Helsing family.

The feature film SCRAMBLED (Lionsgate x Megamix) for director Leah McKendrick premiered at SXSW 2023 and is now streaming on HULU after a wide theatrical release.

THE WRATH OF BECKY (Boulderlight Films) for directors Suzanne Coote and Matthew Angel premiered at SXSW 2023 and also had a successful theatrical run.

A feature she lensed for Natasha Kermani, LUCKY, was a SXSW premiere and multiple other narrative projects she has shot have shown at prestigious genre festivals like SITGES, FANTASTIC FEST, FANTASIA and more.

Julia’s diverse commercial work has aired during the Super Bowl, all across broadcast and streamers nationwide.
Her music video work has been featured across major outlets including Billboard, VEVO and Rolling Stone.

Julia holds an MFA in cinematography from UCLA and is a member of the International Cinematographer’s Guild.
